Day Trip to Lake Eyasi
Your day begins with an early pickup from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, followed by a scenic 2.5 to 3-hour drive west toward Lake Eyasi, located at the edge of the Serengeti ecosystem. Along the way, enjoy views of rolling plains, Maasai villages, and Mount Eyasi’s volcanic slopes.
Upon arrival, meet the Hadza tribe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in Africa. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll learn about their traditional lifestyle, hunting techniques with bows and arrows, and their intimate knowledge of the land and plants. Witness firsthand their foraging and tracking skills during a short walk in the bush.
You’ll also visit nearby Datoga pastoralists, known for their blacksmithing and cattle herding traditions, offering a complementary cultural perspective.
A simple lunch featuring local cuisine is often included, served in a village setting to deepen the authentic experience.
After the cultural visit, enjoy some free time to relax by the lake’s edge, take photos, or explore the surrounding landscape.
In the late afternoon, depart for the return journey to Arusha or Moshi, arriving by early evening, enriched by a unique encounter with Tanzania’s indigenous cultures and stunning natural surroundings.
